At all other times (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), there is a Nurse on site and a vet on call. We are happy to see emergencies during these times. (Note there is an extra charge for these emergencies).

Please do not just turn up - phone first, as our nurses have been instructed not to open the doors at night unless the vet is with them (for security reasons).

Our Ringwood Hospital...

has the best of modern veterinary equipment to enable our fully trained team to do their jobs to the highest standard. We are always happy to show clients around the Hospital - just give us a ring and we will arrange a time.

Our Radiology room houses our xray machine. The xray machine is particularly powerful, so that we can obtain good quality xray pictures on the whole range of sizes of animal that we see. We now use digital technology so that all images are produced on computer and can be saved easily and tidily. It also means that your pet's xrays are attached to their records and can be viewed at any time at the press of a button.

The Ultrasound machine is used to scan the internal organs of the body, e.g. to see whether your dog is pregnant or whether the liver has changed size. It is also used to watch the heart and gives us a lot of information on heart and lung disease - and is in constant use by our cardiologist, Stephen Collins.

We have a range of endoscopes which can be used to see down into your pet's stomach or lungs without having to resort to surgery. Because our patients are such different sizes we have several sizes of endoscope.

We have separate dog and cat/rabbit kennels, so that if we get a barking dog the smaller pets are not so upset. We also have four large walk-in kennels for the larger breeds of dog, which are so popular in our area. Our dedicated Ward Nurses run the kennels during the day, and at night we always have a nurse there to keep an eye on our in-patients. Our telephone answering system allows you to connect directly to them if your pet is staying with us.

Our anaesthetics are the most modern available. In fact, they are commonly used for human anaesthesia. This means your pet will be safer and will wake up more quickly, ready to go home again.

If mum needs a Caesarian, we have an incubator available to look after the puppies and kittens for their first few hours after birth. This doubles as an Oxygen tent for patients with serious chest problems.

We have extensive facilities for dealing with orthopaedic problems (bones and joints), and are fortunate to have two orthopaedic specialists working from our Hospital. They are able to deal with all problems, including spinal surgery, hip replacement and arthroscopic surgery.

Our night service is very unusual, in that we have a rota of nurses who stay up all night with your pet if he or she stays with us. You can be sure that someone is watching carefully for any change in their condition, or signs of discomfort, or maybe just there to give them a few cuddles.
