Our Staff

We are currently in the process of updating all the information on our vets, nurses and administrative staff so that you can easily recognise who you are talking to at the practice, so please note that not everyone is here yet.

Our Vets

Darren Lucas
Darren Lucas MA, VetMB, MRCVS
Darren qualified from Cambridge University in 1997.  He then spent 6 months volunteering as the vet in charge of a primate rehabilitation centre in Cameroon, West Africa.  This was followed by 2 years working at a small animal veterinary practice in Nottingham.  Darren joined Cedar Vets in 2000 and became a director in 2008.  He is interested in all aspects of small animal practice, but is particularly interested in emergency medicine and surgery.
Darren lives with his fiancée Vikki, in Ringwood. They have a cat called Pinot and a miniature dachshund called Lollipop.  He particularly enjoys cooking (and eating!) and photography in his limited spare time.

Our Nursing Team

BeckyBecky has been part of the Cedar Vets team for 7 years. She started her training in 2003 and qualified in April 2009.
Her special interests are in veterinary medicine and all aspects of inpatient care.
Outside Cedars, she likes to go dog walking and reading Harry Potter books!
She has a gorgeous 2 year old chocolate Labrador called Ozzy, 3 Budgies, a pond full of fish, a Tortoise and two rabbits!
CarolineCaroline started her Veterinary Nurse training in 1998 and qualified in 2001.
She achieved her A1 Assessor Award 6 years ago and has been busy helping to train our student nurses since!
She currently works part-time and is a fantastic member of the Cedars team!
Her main veterinary interests are in inpatient care and ward duties.
She enjoys walking her dogs, going to the gym and taking care of her 2 gorgeous children!
She has 2 dogs called Dolly and Maisy, some guinea pigs, 3 cats and a Tortoise!
ClaireClaire has been a valuable part of the Cedar Vets team since 1996!
She trained with us and qualified in 2002.
Three years later, she was promoted to one of our Senior Nurses. She then achieved her Surgical Veterinary Nursing Diploma (DipAVN).
Her nursing interests are in Anaesthesia and Surgery.
She loves to go swimming, watch football, reading and walking her dogs.
She has 2 dogs called Trixie and Sox, a rabbit and a cat!
EmilyEmily initially started working at Cedar Vets in 2007 as a Referral Secretary.
She started working as a student nurse in May 2009. She has passed her NVQ level 2 exams and has started the new nursing diploma.
Emily has recently started running the Cedar Vets puppy classes, where she enjoys socialising the puppies and teaching puppy health care to clients.
Outside Cedars, she loves to walk her Border Terrier, Oska, plan her up-coming wedding and go to the gym.
She also has 2 cats, tropical fish and some gerbils!
She also loves inpatient care.
EmmaEmma joined the Cedars team for work experience when she finished school.
She then began her veterinary nurse training in 2007 at another veterinary surgery, before returning to join our team in 2009 to finish the qualification.
She qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse Summer 2010.
Her nursing interests are in inpatient care and physiotherapy.
Her other interests are camping, going to the gym and walking her dogs.
She has 3 Boxers and 2 Tortoises!
FreyaFreya started working at Cedars as a Saturday kennel assistant 2 years ago.
She then started her veterinary nurse training in March 2009 and has passed her NVQ level 2 examinations.
She has recently started the new nursing diploma qualification and hopes to qualify next Summer.
She loves to spend time nursing our inpatients and all ward duties.
In her spare time, she likes cooking, going to the gym and playing the guitar.
She has a tank of fish and a Collie Cross called Frank!
HelenHelen started working at Cedars 19 years ago as a weekend kennel assistant.
In 2006, after moving away to go to university and travel the world, she rejoined the practice to start her Veterinary Nursing training. She qualified in 2009.
Helen achieved the BSAVA Level 3 Veterinary Nursing Award for passing her final exams with the highest marks in the country!
Helen loves the variety of nursing but especially loves nursing the inpatients.
In her spare time, she breeds Cockatiels, likes going to the races and travelling.
She owns 6 Cockatiels, a tank full of Tropical Fish and a hand-reared sparrow!
JoJo started her nursing career in 1998. She passed her exams in 2000 with a special credit award. She achieved her A1 assessors award three years later.
Jo joined the Cedars team 3 years later, where she got promoted to one of the Senior Veterinary Nurses.
Jo achieved her Surgical Nursing Diploma (DipAVN) within the first year of working with us.
Her special interests are Radiography, Anaesthesia and Surgery.
She also enjoys swimming, cooking and looking after her beautiful daughter Isabelle!
LeanneLeanne started working at Cedar Vets in June 2003 where she began her veterinary nurse training and qualified in November 2006. She has been running the nurse clinics in Ringwood for over a year and is now running clinics in Verwood and Ferndown.
She was recently promoted to one of the Senior Veterinary Nurses. She gained her A1 Award for assessing students in April 2010.
Her special interests are in veterinary nutrition, parasites, weight clinics and all aspects of preventative health care.
In her spare time, she enjoys walking, going to concerts and camping.
She has a 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier called Minnie.
SuzanneSuzanne started her nurse training with another practice in 1995.
In 2001 she qualified as a Veterinary Nurse.
Suzanne joined Cedars 4 years later as part of the orthopaedic referral team. She then moved onto 1st opinion nursing in 2006 and got promoted to one of the Senior Nurses a year later.
She qualified as a Suitable Qualified Person to dispense medications in 2009 and has recently become Head Nurse.
She loves all aspects of nursing!
Suzanne is a keen horse rider competing regularly.
She also enjoys being a mum to her gorgeous little girl Felicity!
